Red Rock Canyon, Vegas and more Vegas
It's the time of the year again for our annual Vegas trip

Red Rock Canyon |
Got a great deal with Aria and i was curious if the property is nice, so off to Vegas we go!
Our deal consist of 2 buffets a day but there's pros and cons. We concluded consecutive days of eating buffets is overrated =)
But it's nice not to think about where to eat for 1 day.

We went to Red rock Canyon for the first day after arrival. It's an interesting, very short but pretty route that we drove around. Was a little tight on time and didn't have time to hike. But it looks like it would be a good hike. For our next trip to Vegas!

Bardot Dinner
Our first dinner is Bardot in Aria. It's good French food but somehow i find the ingredients less flavorful than what i had in Europe. But it's a great anniversary for our French trip last year in Southern France!

Secret food tour
We went for a Secret food tour that brings us to celebrity chefs restaurants.
After making our way through the endless Caesar palace, we found the Colossum and started the tour.
First stop is Gordon Ramsey restaurant that focus on making crappy english food like Scottish egg and pig in a blanket tasty! It is certainly a fun concept that' turns out yummy

2nd stop is Cake's boss restaurant that features his family recipes.
The guide told us that when they first started the restaurant, they are unable to get the correct mix of ground beef and had to bring his butcher into Vegas!
Also, the bakery on the other side of this restaurant serves worse cannoli than the restaurant as one is mass produced and the other is homemade by the restaurant. All in all, a yummy meatball slider with a creamy pasta in bechamel sauce

Buddy V's family recipe |
The 3rd place is Yard Bird which is Hell's kitchen last season winner. Her take on southern food is yummy and a little surprising. The spiced watermelon is great, with cumin tasting water melon that does not have cumin. (I'm still not sure if i believe that she can get that taste without actually adding cumin). Corn bread is great and we had a pork belly slider that's yummy too. But we heard Gordon Ramsay is recruiting her to run his other restaurant so chances are she is not going to stay as the head chef in this restaurant for too long.
At the end of the whole tour, we also added some Bouchon macaron, Hawaiian cookies and Royce choclates.

The tour guide has a surprise in her purse! Her cork purse contains a bag that can fill up with wine. So very soon, we are all carrying a glass of vino during the tour =)
|
I need one of this bag! |
|
Just in case anyone is curious how it works! |
Since Bill has never been to Fremont before, we had fun walking the streets and listening to bands and street performers.
|
Hmm... this is kind of weird

Young kids performing really well |

Great piano bar call Dont' tell MaMa where we enjoyed some songs by the waitresses |
We also got some cute titbits from the guide. For eg Wynn and Venitian are both owned by private owners and not consortiums. But Wynn decide not to buy the piece of land where Palazo is, and Venetian boss decide to buy it.
And build 2 floors above Wynn to block their view of the strip =) So only a small stretch of Wynn hotel rooms can see the strip view.. wow!
