Another good food and good wine weekend in the valley
This time we got to share it with friends!
Cathy Citbit, Joe Citbit, Bill, me and Cristina at Adobe guadalupe food truck |
Day 1: First stop coffee and lamb tacos
A early day to cross the border without traffic. So the first stop is a local coffee place for a caffeine boost!
Lamb tacos still great as ever. They are doing good business as usaul and have expanded canopies for seating.
2nd stop Santo tomas
Then we went to Santo Tomas
They still have a pretty tasting room and breath-taking views on the property.
They have changed their wine to promote new wine and pursue younger palettes. Unfortunately it's not quite to my liking. And there is no more chocolate pairing as they are remaking the formula. They also remove the wine bottles signed by artists who had performed at the property.

The tapas are still great and we ordered a bunch of things to share
We tried a new dish that's tongue and shrimp and potatoes. Really flavorful and will get that again.
The croquette got Cristina's approval who is from Spain. So that's good. And the shrimp and mushroom are still good. Yum.

The name literally mean love and they have wines featuring local tribes language. We tried the tasting and Joe/Cathy give thumbs up for their desserts. Not a lot of pictures as we are all having food and wine coma.
Fashion show at Wendy and Nick's art gallery
Very good picture of Wendy and Nick's property (Courtesy from Joe) |
The fashion show is open with poetry reading, music and then 4 sets. First set is to showcase the glass necklace. 2nd for the monochromatic flow design that I really like. 3rd set has lights embedded and 4th sets has leds.
They also got 2 pigs roasting for food in this show and yum, that's flavourful, together with Wendy's vegan pasta.
It's Cristina's birthday and she treated us to a nice coffee cake for dessert
Day 2
Alveolo
We started the day with breakfast at Alveolo. They have great pastries and fantastic main course
Giselle is a very nice hostess and we really enjoyed it.
Yummy breakfast at Alveolo |
Pijoan winery
Haven't been back since before pandemic. Their wine is still great and the place is quiet and relaxing. Arturo still looks the same and gave us a good summary of the wine. Their port is still our favorite and we stock up for the holidays.
Vintango
Enjoyed rose wine at Joann winery/shop while we chatted and shop for books and jewellery
Vinos Plata
Tasting at Erick's winery never disappoint and we did his usual tasting. He's also bottling wine so we also tasted a bottle of white wine that's still settling. I want to preorder for them in aluminum bottles as it would be great to bring on a trip
El Asadero
Closing the trip, we had dinner at El Asadero and the meat platter is great. The view is scenic and quiet Sunday night.
A great valley trip with some good friends and made some nice memories
