Seville

Seville and the walking weekend
I decide to go visit Ana over the weekend!
With the Cathedral in the background with a prominent Spanish flag
Seeing Ana again after 3 years! Having fun walking 30k steps a day again with her!

In the narrow Arab streets in Serville
Of course the first picture  in Seville has to be in a tapas bar with her =)

I took the fast train which still took about 5 hours to reach seville traveling at 245km/hr.

train tickets
Train monitor showing the path from Barcelona to Seville, with the speed

In Seville train platform
Seville is surprising with the amount of tourists and the heat!
Thankfully Ana is skillful at avoiding the heat and we planned the sightseeing around the weather as much as we can!

I am unable to access the cathedral and garden as the tickets are sold out. And there's no time to look at museums in detail. On top of more  tapas that I haven't tried =) so i will need to come back!

First stop at 11pm arrival night..
Tapas bar!

A Jamon queso sandwich, stewed pork fan fried sandiwch, fried shrimp fritters, jamon/queso deep fried
Standing room only tapas bar at 11pm at night.. of course it's Spain!
We walked around and got night shots of downtown Seville

A funny tall thin building in downtown Seville

The Catherdral in the day time
The cathedral is an important part of Sevillians life.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seville_Cathedral
This is supposed to be the largest catholic cathedral in the world! There's at least 3 different buildings that's built on top of each other to form the current structure. And the middle layer has a distinct Arab influence.

Main cathedral entrance (Already a long queue at 10am)

The Spanish square is the other main attraction in Seville.

Another view of the Spanish square
Spanish Square has tiles that showcase region of Spain and i took pictures of the ones that I been to. I just have to go back and take more as i visit more places. =)
The 6 regions in Spain that I have visited (Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Mallorca and Seville)

The next day, we explored downtown with more sightseeing
The Aquaducts from the Roman times

Iglesia de San Lldefonso
Entrance to the Arab quarters

Mosaics
More mosaics forming facade for a pool
A regular courtyard in a Sevillian home
Beautiful facade gate in a hotel
Devil's grate. Observe how the metal interlocks?
The city view at night from "The mushroom"
The mushroom which is a viewing structure for the city
A museum in the park, with Arabic influence in the architecture
Ana and I went to watch a flamenco performance. Seeing the energy and dynamics of this culture, i am reminded this is a culture that expanded their colony across the globe.

The Flamenco performance

With the performers
And of course, the food and more food!
She's an expert in finding good tapas!
Typical Sevillian breakfast with good jamon and bread that reminds me of Cuban bread
Fried sardines, prawn hamburger, squid meatballs, meat cigar roll, white fish with onions/peppers

Jamon cutting

Eslava - Great clams, fried sardines, fried red fish, cigar squid, foie gras, egg with mushroom cake and an emulsion dish with 18 ingredients

Buen Comer with a small kitchen!
