Big apple adventures day 1

First trip to New York
First impression of NY: messy, dirty and chaotic

Finding our accommodations took 3 hours, involving JFK train rides and multiple subway rides to collect keys and finding the apartment. It was confusing initially figuring out how to pay for the air train vs the subway.

This is a collection of different subway and train cards in New York.
From the bottom up:

Front/Back of our 7 day Metro passes

The subways are nice though, ac and not very crowded, even during peak hours.

Our accommodations is right in the center of little Italy and Chinatown.
The amalgam of 2 cultures that thrive on chaos!

First food stop: Jamaica station
The Delta Airline plane food is pretty crappy. We had to stop for some food before we tackle Manhattan.
The panini and jerk-chicken samosa are surprisingly good, bursting with fillings.
Jamaica Station meal - our first meal in New York
After we settled down and unpacked, we walked to Delancey Street. It seems that its glorious busy days are over. It's quiet and not very eventful. So we walked to Katz Deli instead

Katz deli
Famous overpriced pastrami sandwich with good pickles, and the location of the infamous scene in "Harry Met Sally". It's my first encounter of cash-only restaurants in NY that turned out to be fairly common. The pastrami reminds me of corn beef and it's good. But I don't think it's worth the $18.75 price tag. But it's big enough for 2 with a good amount of meat.

After that, we walked around little Italy and Chinatown. Tons of tourists on a Friday night, and decide to hit the sack shortly after.
